IELTS Speaking Test - Full Practice Test
Part 1 (4-5 minutes)
The examiner will ask you some questions about yourself, your family, your work/studies, hobbies and interests, and other general topics.
Sample questions:
- Can you tell me your full name?
- Where are you from?
- What do you like the most about your hometown?
- Do you work or are you a student?
- What do you enjoy most about your job/studies?
- Do you have any hobbies or interests? What are they?
Part 2 (2 minutes)
You will be given a task card with a topic to talk about. You will have one minute to prepare, and then you will have to speak for two minutes on the topic.
Sample task card:
Describe a person who has had a great influence on your life. You should say:
- Who the person is
- How you know the person
- What the person has done to influence you
- And explain why this person has had such a great influence on your life.
Part 3 (4-5 minutes)
The examiner will ask you more in-depth questions related to the topic in Part 2. The questions will require you to use more complex language and express your opinions.
Sample questions:
- Why do you think it is important to have role models in life?
- Can you think of any negative influences that someone might have on others?
- How do you think modern technology has affected the way people communicate with each other?
- Do you think it is important to have a good work-life balance? Why or why not?
