Mastering Passive Voice & Past Participles
Grammar Note: Process diagrams usually rely on the Passive Voice to shift focus from the person doing the action to the action itself.
- Present Simple Passive: is/are + Past Participle (e.g., "is baked")
- Present Perfect Passive: has/have been + Past Participle (e.g., "has been baked")
Exercise 1: How to make Pizza
Complete the sentences using the Present Simple Passive form of the verbs in brackets.
- The dough (make) with flour, water, and yeast.
- Then, the dough (knead) for at least 10 minutes.
- The dough (cover) with a damp cloth and (let) to rest for 30 minutes.
- The tomato sauce (make) with fresh tomatoes, garlic, and olive oil.
- The sauce (spread) evenly on the pizza base.
- The toppings, such as cheese and meat, (add) to the pizza.
- The pizza (bake) in the oven for 12-15 minutes.
