Student Portal & Account Activation
Your Application Status Check and myNortheastern portals are the primary tools for your enrollment journey. To begin, you must first confirm your enrollment by paying your deposit.
Account Claim Process: Within 48 hours of your enrollment confirmation and payment, you will receive an automated "Account Activation" email to your registered email ID. This email contains your NU ID number and instructions to claim your student account.
Steps for First-Time Access:
- Locate your NU ID from your offer letter or activation email.
- Activate your account via the Northeastern Identity Manager.
- Set up Duo Multi-Factor Authentication (required for all logins).
- Wait 24–48 hours after activation for your myOGS account to go live.
Once your myOGS account is live (24–48 hours after account activation), you can log in using your standard Northeastern credentials to start your I-20 request.
Required Documents for Upload:
- ✔ Passport Identity Page (Clear color scan)
- ✔ Financial Proof (Bank statements showing 1 year of estimated expenses)
- ✔ Currency Conversion (If funds are not in USD)
- ✔ Sponsor Affidavit (If using a third-party sponsor)
Processing Timeline: The typical processing window is 10 to 15 business days after all documents are cleared by the OGS team.
I-20 Deposit Requirement
To initiate the I-20 process, you must pay an enrollment deposit. This deposit confirms your intent to attend Northeastern University and triggers the account activation email.
- Amount: Typically $500 to $1,000 USD (varies by program).
- Payment: Use Flywire or Convera within your student portal.
- Note: This amount is non-refundable but will be credited toward your first semester’s tuition.
Visa Refusal & Refund Process
If your visa is refused by the U.S. Consulate, you are eligible to request a refund of your deposit and pre-paid tuition.
To Request a Refund:
- Provide a copy of the official Visa Refusal Letter (Form 214b).
- Submit the refund request form via the student portal.
- Refunds usually take 4 to 6 weeks to process.
