The Genuine Student (GS) interview isn't about memorizing lines—it's about proving your logic. Here are the most common questions asked by Case Officers and how to answer them correctly.
Case Officers are trained to spot "rehearsed" answers. If you sound like a robot, you will be refused. Use these samples to understand the logic, but speak in your own natural words.
❌ Bad Answer: "Because IT has a good scope and I like computers."
✅ Strategic Answer: Focus on the gap in your skills.
"Sir, I have completed my Bachelor's in Computer Applications, but I realized I lack advanced skills in [Topic A] and [Topic B]. This specific Master's program covers these modules in the 2nd semester, which will allow me to apply for Senior Developer roles back home."
❌ Bad Answer: "Education in India is not practical" or "India is too crowded." (Never insult your home country).
✅ Strategic Answer: Focus on Curriculum & Exposure.
"I did research colleges in India like [Name 1] and [Name 2]. However, their syllabus is largely theoretical. The Australian program offers a 'Work Integrated Learning' component which gives me internship exposure. That practical experience is crucial for my career growth."
❌ Bad Answer: "I want to get a PR visa" or "I will find a job in Sydney."
✅ Strategic Answer: Link the degree to a job in India.
"I plan to return to India. With this specialized degree, I will target roles like [Job Title] at companies like [Company A] or [Company B] in Bangalore/Mumbai. The typical salary package for this role is around [Amount], which gives me a strong ROI."
❌ Bad Answer: "I will work part-time in Australia to earn it back." (Huge Red Flag).
✅ Strategic Answer: Focus on Long-Term Salary Growth.
"My parents are sponsoring my education, so I am not under pressure to repay a loan immediately. However, purely as an investment: A graduate with an International Master's earns 3x more in India compared to a standard graduate. I calculate that I will recover the investment within 4 to 5 years of working professionally."
❌ Bad Answer: Lying. (If you say 'No' but your brother lives there, they will find out and ban you).
✅ Strategic Answer: Honesty + Independence.
"Yes, my distant cousin lives in Melbourne. However, I will be staying in university accommodation/student housing as I want to focus on my studies independently. He is not sponsoring my education."
Before the call, write these numbers down on a piece of paper in front of you.
