SA F-1 Visa: Affidavit of Financial Support Guide & Template
Guide: USA Affidavit of Financial Support (F-1 Visa)
For a USA F-1 Student Visa, the Affidavit of Support is a critical document. While the I-20 shows you have the funds, this affidavit proves the commitment of your sponsors (usually parents) to cover your tuition, living expenses, and travel for the duration of your degree.
🇺🇸 Why is this required?
The U.S. Consular Officer must be convinced that the student will not become a "public charge" and has reliable access to funds. This document bridges the gap between a bank balance and the actual willingness of the account holder to spend that money on the student’s education.
📝 Execution Instructions:
- Format: This is a joint declaration for two sponsors (e.g., Mother & Father). If only one person is sponsoring, change "We" to "I".
- Stamp Paper: In India, this is typically printed on Non-Judicial Stamp Paper (value of ₹50 or ₹100).
- Notarization: The document must be signed in the presence of a Notary Public to give it legal weight.
- Liquid Assets: Ensure the amounts mentioned match the bank certificates and financial summaries you carry to the interview.
