Exam Date Confirmed: Your Final Prep & Exam Day Guide

Exam Date Confirmed: Your Final Prep & Exam Day Guide

Status: Exam Booked

Your Exam Date is Confirmed.
Here is Your Game Plan.

The date is set. The pressure is real. But don't panic. This guide covers everything you need to do from today until the moment you walk out of the exam hall.

Phase 1: Immediate Checks (Do This Today)

Open your confirmation email from IDP right now and verify these three things:

  • Passport Number Match: Does the passport number on the email match your physical passport exactly? If not, contact us immediately. You will be denied entry for a typo.
  • Test Venue: Is it at a hotel or an official centre? Google Map the location so you know the travel time.
  • Speaking Slot: For Paper-Based tests, your Speaking exam might be on a different day (up to 7 days before or after the main exam). Check your separate "Speaking Hall Ticket."

Phase 2: The Final Week Strategy

Stop Learning New Things

Do not try to learn complex new vocabulary 3 days before the test. You will confuse yourself. Focus on consolidating what you already know.

Fix Your Sleep Cycle

If your exam is at 9:00 AM, wake up at 7:00 AM every day this week. Your brain needs to be fully active during the Listening module (which usually happens first).

Full Mock Test

Do one final full-length test with a strict timer. No breaks. Simulate the exam pressure.

Phase 3: Exam Day Rules (The "Must-Haves")

The #1 Golden Rule

NO PASSPORT = NO ENTRY.
You must bring your Original Physical Passport. Photocopies or phone photos are not accepted. You will be sent home without a refund.

What else to bring?

  • Stationery: Pencils (HB), Eraser, Sharpener. (For Paper-based). Pens are usually allowed for Writing, but pencils are safer for corrections.
  • Water Bottle: Must be completely transparent (remove the label/wrapper).
  • Warm Layer: Exam halls usually have strong air conditioning. Bring a light jacket or hoodie.

What Happens Inside the Hall?

  1. Check-In: You will deposit your bag/phone in a locker area. You will be frisked (security check).
  2. Biometrics: They will take your photo and scan your finger. This photo will appear on your final scorecard (so dress decently!).
  3. The Test:
    • Listening: 30 mins (+10 mins transfer time for Paper-based).
    • Reading: 60 mins (No extra transfer time).
    • Writing: 60 mins.
  4. Bathroom Breaks: You cannot leave during the Listening test or the last 10 minutes of any section. Go before you enter!

When Will I Get Results?

Computer-Delivered

Results in 3 to 5 Days.

Paper-Based

Results in 13 Days.
