The Ultimate Guide to Australian GS Compliance, Financial Verification, and CoE Logistics

Australia Admission: Post-Financial Submission Guide

Your Comprehensive Roadmap from Financial Review to CoE Issuance

Now that your financial dossier has been submitted to the university, your application enters the Final Assessment Phase. This stage is rigorous; the university acts as a precursor to the Department of Home Affairs to ensure only genuine students proceed. This guide outlines the technicalities of the GS Review, the interview process, and the final payment logistics.

Phase 1: The University GS Assessment

The Genuine Student (GS) requirement replaced the GTE (Genuine Temporary Entrant) criteria to focus on the integrity of your academic intentions. During this review, the university’s compliance team examines:

Financial Credibility: Verification of bank balance history, source of income for sponsors, and the "liquid" nature of funds.
Value of Course: How the specific course in Australia adds value to your existing profile compared to similar courses in India.
Incentives to Return: Evidence of strong ties to India (family, assets, or career prospects) ensuring you intend to return post-study.

Phase 2: The GS Interview (If Applicable)

Not every student is interviewed, but you must be prepared for a 15-20 minute call from the university admissions officer. The interview is a "vibe check" on your SOP.

Common Interview Focus Areas:

University ChoiceWhy this university specifically? Name 2-3 unique features (e.g., industry links, specific modules).
Location KnowledgeWhy this city? What is the estimated cost of living in that region?
Financial LogicWho is sponsoring you and why? What is their annual income?
Career OutcomesWhat specific job roles will you apply for in India after graduation? Name potential employers.

Phase 3: Unconditional Offer & Payment

Once you pass the GS Review, your status changes to Unconditional. This is the green light to initiate the financial transfer.

Required Actions for CoE:

  1. Tuition Fee Deposit: Usually the first semester's fee (refer to your offer letter for the exact amount).
  2. OSHC (Health Cover): Mandatory for the entire duration of your visa. You can pay this through the university or a private provider like Bupa or Allianz.
  3. Acceptance Forms: Sign and scan all pages of your offer acceptance and payment receipt.

What is a CoE?

The Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) is the final document issued by the university. It is the only document that allows us to lodge your Australian Student Visa (Subclass 500).

⚠️ Critical Warnings

  • Phone Availability: Ensure your registered phone number is active. Universities may call without prior email notice.
  • Fund Maintenance: DO NOT withdraw or move the funds from your bank account until your visa is granted. The university or embassy may do a second check.
  • Email Monitoring: Check your inbox (and Spam) twice daily for "Additional Information Requests" (AIR).
